He Came To Rock
Pantera went for months without a front man. How could they do this. Darrell and Vinnies abilitys to play destined them for gratness. They played so many shows throuhg out Texas even while Darrell was only 17. One night a dude called Jerry and offered Pantera a major record deal. He turned it down. He gave them some good advice. Concentrate all there effort to one type of music insead of being so broad and they would succeed. They chose the heave metal music road. Mark Ross from Atco records was going to see another band when he got stuck in Dallas. He went over to see Pantera but after two songs he left. Pantera thought he had left for good he came back 30 minuites later with a contract he was going to sign them right there. Then in 1990 a monster albumk would come from the new found monster band PANTERA. COWBOYS FROM HELL. This will always be one of the greatest and most influential metal albums ever. Darrells skills were now being compared to the metal gods like James Hetfield and Dave Mustaine. Just listen to Cemetary Gates and you will hear a side of metal that was unknown at that time.

The band started playing professionally when Darrell was 14. THEY STARTED OUT PLAYING COVERS AND PROFECTING THEM TONY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They started out playing softer song that the people could dance to then they moved to for heavy stuff. This was done to increase there fan base at first. They grew a HUGE fan base quickly being the best cover band around. They got booked in clubs all over, and soon all over Texas. They were most influenced by Van Halens playing than the posing done by most of the 80s bands. This went all the way back to there roots.

Amazing Game
Yesterday during noon B the Catamounts took on the Retrievers for an intramural basketball game at WLA.
The Catamounts were 0-3 and the Retrievers were 3-0. The game started with an early Retrievers lead, and then followed by a score by the Catamounts.
Jenquine made an amazing shot about five minutes in. The score was about tied the whole game. The Retrievers seemed to be running out of breath.
Geise made a bunny shot and on the next drive Binnebose got fouled and made a free throw to put them up by four with a Minute and a half to go.
The Retrievers stole the ball twice and scored both times to tie the game up. Brian took the ball up and passed it to Bob and he got fouled. He missed the free throw, and the game went into over time. Knuth made the free throw in over time to win the game for the Retrievers..
After the game Jenquine said "Our team played really well and we shouldn't have let them come back like that".
The Retrievers were not at full strength. Two of there players were either sick or injured. Later Brian said "If we were at full strength we might of had a better chance of pulling that game out in our way".
